"Protected" Psalms 28:7, Acrylic on canvas, 24" X 18"

Hi Everyone. So people have been noticing how healthy I've been, avoiding getting the sniffles and so on. Well, this week I succumbed. I was able to do my Wed. morning classes and also my Thursday "teaching" day. Although by then I just had to say a word or two and everyone noticed I was affected. I tried to stick to the essentials on that day to save my voice.

The bank teller and I were talking and thinking that with this new deep base voice  of mine, I should apply for some radio or TV announcer position. I made it clear that a TV position would be out of the question as I may now have the voice but not the necessary looks! Ha!

All that to say, I did miss one day, the Friday "Artist in Residence" day.

Meanwhile despite all that, I did actually get a painting done. With all the teaching and coaching of students in their art projects, I'm just a lot more into painting these days. Also it just so happens that our church is raising funds to bring in a refugee family and have their first real fundraising event this coming Sunday. I was asked and honored to donate a painting for the silent auction and this is it.

This painting of assorted shields is inspired by my hero King David's references in the Psalms as to how his God was a shield of protection for him.   "The LORD is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him."  Psa. 28:7

He knew what he was talking about as many times he'd been in a serious life threatening pickle and through it all he had trusted God and had experienced Him to be his, for real, shield and protector.

Now I will be there at this fundraiser! You think I'll be able to stay away from the bidding sheet before my painting? My students and I were mulling this dilemma over and they began making suggestions like how I might add a bid or two myself if things were going rather slow! Now what kind of thinking is that? I would never have ever thought of that!

"Nothing will teach you more about perceived value than taking something with literally no value and telling it in the auction format.
It teaches you the beauty and power of presentation,
and how you can make magic out of nothing."
