 "Degraded" Water Color
by Cliff Derksen

This was what I walked into Monday morning on the second week of the trial, a whole world of messed up DNA.  On this day there was a discussion on how Dr. Chahall the head lab technician of Molecular World had, according to the defense, no idea how to work with "degenerated" DNA!

At that time I began to feel panicky, because in fact the whole trial was based on the DNA evidence and here I was watching it being destroyed. I was wondering what the Crown would do in response to this aggressive attack. Now that the trial is over (except for the void dares,) I am a bit more relaxed as they have also included some circumstantial evidence, evidence that had not been used before in the first trial.  That's a relief because it looks like this time they cannot relay only on the DNA as they did in the first trial.

I guess at the time I felt like everything was falling apart and created an image of how I felt that day. I felt like I  was also falling apart watching the case being destroyed, falling apart before my very eyes.

Very discouraging!
