2018 Documentary: "Suspended and the Art of Forgiveness"
A documentary that follows artist Cliff Derksen as the now thirty-three year saga since the murder of his daughter Candace finally moves towards closure.
Quote from "Refuge 31":
"Themes of anger and loss to suspicion and justice have allowed Cliff different ways to express himself and find an inner strength to find forgiveness. Now, years after the trial and with a trail of fascinating and wonderful works, Cliff has moved into not just creating but also teaching the joy of art."

This film is a one hour film, great for groups of all kinds such as, men's groups, art groups, therapists, church congregations, young adults, pastors, just to mention a few. It has to do with art, theology, men dealing with grief, anger, forgiveness and more. You will hear from Cliff's family, police chief Ewaski and Malcolm Gladwell and more, reflecting on Cliff and his families journey of forgiveness.

Bio of Cliff Derksen:

Cliff Derksen is an artist, ceramic sculptor, and art instructor. His work has been shown in art galleries sponsored by the Theotrinsic Art Group. Due to the tragic loss of his daughter in 1984 his sculpting became therapeutic in nature as he explored themes of anger, loss, suspicion and justice. In 2018 His life’s work was captured in an award winning documentary filmed by Andrew Wall of Refuge 31 called, “Suspended, the art of forgiveness.” His work has been described as strikingly animated, thought-provoking and metaphorical. Cliff, who lives in Winnipeg, is married to Wilma Derksen, a well-known writer and inspirational speaker. They have 2 married adult children and 3 grandchildren.
